Rental inquiries

Site rentals
- Site rentals are available year-round after our regular hours of operation.
- Guests may enter onto the site starting at 3:30 pm
- Vehicles may enter at 4:00 pm
- During our off-season, site rentals and access can be arranged based on availability and resources
Rental space
- Outdoor rental spaces offer areas that can hold 300 people with or without a tent
- Indoor rental spaces can only hold up to 80 people, restrictions apply
Our spaces for rent are:
- Church (capacity 80)
- Barn (capacity 35 on each floor)
- Village Green or outer barn
- Portage Flyer Train (diesel locomotive with authentic coaches)
- Rotary Village Train Station
Rental types
These are the types of events we offer for weddings. Base costs are noted in each section and based on the Town of Huntsville fees and charges by-law.
Ceremony and daytime rentals |
- Base cost, $1,012.19 or $8.47 per person (whichever is greater)
- 4-hour maximum including photos
Decorating and rehearsal
For no additional charge, during our regular business hours you may:
- Decorate the day of, or the day before the event date (no staples, screws, nails, tacks or super adhesive tape)
- Hold a rehearsal
If you would like to decorate or rehearse outside of these times, we will provide an individual quote.
Deposit
- 50% of your total event rental is payable at the time of booking
- Deposit is non-refundable
- We will deduct this from your total amount due; the balance of payment is due within 30 days of your event
Cancellation
- 30 days or more from the event date
- Full refund of amount paid not including deposit.
- 15 to 29 days from the event date
- 50% refund of total cost not including deposit.
- 7 to 14 days from the event date
- 25% of total cost not including deposit.
- 6 days or less from the event date

- Base cost. $1,771.28 or $14.50 per person (whichever is greater)

Costume rentals |
If you want to rent a pioneer costume, daily or dress wear, we have:
- Train conductor suits
- Gender specific costumes
- Mostly adult, and a few child sizes
- $25.00 + HST. Must be washed before returned

If you wish to have costumed pioneers at your event, there is a $25.00 per hour, per person charge

Photos only, wedding or family |
- $175.61 for the first hour
- $80.79 for every 30 minutes following
- Please turn off camera flash for interior photos

Portage Flyer train |
- Base cost, $1,012.19
- 2-hour maximum
- The coaches have a capacity of about 90 - 100, therefore multiple trips may be required depending upon your group size

Rental requirements
Muskoka Heritage Place will liaise with your event staff, however all event organization and supplies are the sole responsibility of the renting party.
Alcohol service
- If you plan to serve alcohol, you are responsible to license the rental area in which you wish to serve
- If your event is being catered by a professional caterer, they will likely have a Caterer’s Endorsement to their liquor license
- If you are catering the event yourself you must provide to Muskoka Heritage Place, your Special Occasion Permit that you will have to obtain from the L.L.B.O. or online at www.agco.on.ca
- Licensing an on-site event requires a minimum of 21 days
- 5-million liability insurance is mandatory
Insurance
- 5-million liability insurance is mandatory for events serving alcohol
- You may either purchase low risk (non-alcohol) event insurance or high risk (alcohol events) through the Town of Huntsville
- You may acquire your own insurance and proof, which must be provided to Muskoka Heritage Place
